RBI launched a special scheme on June 5, 2026, to attract foreign money into India. Banks and companies have brought in over $20 billion (roughly ₹1.7 lakh crore) through this scheme by July 17, 2026. The scheme stays open until September 30, 2026, for certain deposits and until December 31, 2026, for business borrowings.
When foreign money flows into India, it strengthens the rupee and helps stabilize the economy. RBI offered a special low-cost deal called a concessional swap — meaning banks got a cheaper rate to convert foreign currency into rupees — to attract these inflows. Strong forex inflows can help keep inflation and import costs in check for ordinary families.
