What happened

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched its July 2026 round of the Inflation Expectations Survey of Households. This survey collects opinions from ordinary families in 19 Indian cities about how they expect prices to change over the next 3 months and 1 year. A private agency called Hansa Research Group is conducting the survey on RBI's behalf.

Why it matters

The RBI uses responses from this survey to help shape its monetary policy — that is, decisions about interest rates that affect your home loan EMIs, savings account returns, and overall cost of living. The more households participate, the better the RBI can understand real price pressures faced by ordinary families.

What to check

  • →Check if you live in one of the 19 survey cities — if yes, you may be contacted by the survey agency
  • →Find out how to participate voluntarily by visiting the RBI website if you were not contacted but wish to share your views
  • →Look at the linked survey form on the RBI press release if you want to submit your inflation expectations directly
  • →Ask the survey representative for their official identification before sharing any personal information
  • →Consider that this is a data collection exercise only — it does not change any policy or financial rule immediately
