What happened
SEBI (India's market regulator) has issued an emergency order against Stark Investments and others. They were running investment advisory and portfolio management services without a valid SEBI registration. SEBI has stepped in immediately to stop these activities.
Why it matters
In India, anyone who advises you on investments or manages your money must be registered with SEBI. This rule protects ordinary investors from fraud and mismanagement. When firms operate without registration, investors have no legal protection if things go wrong.
What to check
- →Check if you or any family member has invested money with Stark Investments or any related entity
- →Find out if your investment advisor or portfolio manager holds a valid SEBI registration — you can verify this free on SEBI's official website sebi.gov.in
- →Look at any receipts, agreements, or documents you received from this firm and keep them safely
- →Ask your bank if any payments went to accounts linked to Stark Investments
- →Consider reporting your experience to SEBI's SCORES portal (scores.sebi.gov.in) if you feel affected
